In vitro and vivo studies have indicated that S. Boulardii is able to prevent intestinal infection caused by Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Proteus vulgaris, Yersinia enterocolitica and Candida albicans (Czerucka and Rampal, 2002).

The S. Boulardii strand is naturally resistant to antibiotics and offer strong protection against bacterial infections. Its effect on the mucosa, and more recently its immunomodulatory properties, are considered to be a safe and effective treatment.
